Rang in a new decade in my new favorite place and spent time reflecting on my 20s. Like most people, my 20s brought about some big changes. I graduated college, started my first big-time job, met my husband and got married, advanced in my career and then quit that career 7 years later to travel.

For most of the last decade, the value I assigned myself was tied to my education, my job title, and my paycheck. It wasn’t until I left that all behind that I realized what I valued most was experiences and culture and time and relationships.

I’m sure my 30s will bring on more changes that I haven’t prepared for but if I learned anything in my 20s, it’s that I can adapt my plans and my goals as I go. Something I never even considered before now 😅

Here’s to a new decade of transformation!

Voy a soñar contigo, Peru 🤍

Peru has been on our list for years now and to say it delivered would be an understatement. The variety of landscapes we enjoyed in just a few days left me absolutely speechless.

We saw breathtaking sites including Machu Picchu, Huacachina, Paracas, and Rainbow Mountain. We learned so much about Peruvian history and how much present-day Peru is influenced by different cultures in their cuisine, music, and religion. Peru is a beautiful and vibrant country with so much to offer and we hardly scratched the surface.

Hasta la vista, Peru! We will be back!

Truly a dream. El Chalten has officially become my favorite mountain town. The vibes? Immaculate. The views? Stunning. The empanadas? Perfection.

This place is a hiker’s paradise. Trailheads in town. Coffee and pastries on every corner. Happy hour every day. A beautiful community of outdoor enthusiasts that love and appreciate this little slice of heaven.

Pura Vida! Not just a slogan but a lifestyle in Costa Rica. A call to enjoy life and nature in its purist form. And let me tell you, I get it. With each breathtaking waterfall, lush rainforest, and beautiful beach, I fell more and more in love.

Hasta luego, Costa Rica, you’re simply stunning.

Still emotional about it. When I tell you I cried when I finally saw that sign at Uhuru Peak. So much gratitude for our bodies and spirits for pushing us through to the top.

Jambo! From the Roof of Africa!

This adventure changed me in all the best ways. The dichotomy of effort and ease we experienced while in Tanzania was a much-needed practice of balance. From relaxing by the pool on Zanzibar Island, to summiting the tallest mountain in Africa, and everything in between.

The theme of the last two weeks: “polepole” - “slowly” in Swahili. A reminder to take time to slow down, relish in the journey, and above all else, take care of your body and mind.

A special thank you to our wonderful team from @monkey_adventures_africa for their unwavering support and dedication to our success at summiting Kili. We are forever grateful!

Should I start a travel blog??

I’ve had a few requests for a travel blog so figured I’d start thinking seriously about it. Somewhere we can share our itineraries and any tips and tricks from our travels. What do you think? I’d love to have a way to share in more detail what we’re up to, starting with Portugal because this reel doesn’t even scratch the surface.

Portugal, you have my heart. The people, the history, the beauty of this country have drawn me in and we will absolutely be back.

We saw just about as much as we possibly could have of Lisbon and the Azores in the time we had. We learned so much about the Portuguese culture from our tour guides and from just walking the streets and stopping in cafes for an espresso or a glass of wine. I wouldn’t change a thing about our time here.

We can now annoyingly talk about that time we went to Portugal and then go first every time we sit down for a game of Azul. IYKYK.

My list of faves in Portugal: pastel de natas (duh), Pena Palace, Regaleira Palace, vinho verde, Alcatra on Terceira Island, thermal baths and canyoning on São Miguel Island, and espresso after every meal.

Ciao for now, Portugal!

No passport required for this one and I won’t lie, I didn’t have very high expectations. I’ve been a bit of a mountain snob and nothing east of the Mississippi has ever really called to me.

Whew was I wrong! The Smokies are STUNNING and even though Gatlinburg wasn’t really our vibe, we loved our time in nature here. It was the perfect start to our new journey.
